Wineries in the Basque Country
The Valdelana family has been cultivating vineyards since the end of the 16th century. Nowadays the owner is Juan Jesús Valdelana. His grapes come from 150 hectares of a select vineyard where the Tempranillo variety predominates, although a small percentage of Viura, Graciano and Mazuelo are also cultivated. The pitched-roof winery houses six floors underground dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries. In addition, the attic is home to an Ethnographic Museum, being the reflection of vine-growing in Rioja Alavesa in the beginning of the past century. Bodegas Valdelana belongs to the Rioja Alavesa Wine Route, as well as to the Spanish Wine Route. Meeting rooms, etc. available for rental. The upper floor may be adapted to hold more rooms for the clients. Products: Valdelana (White Viura, Young Red, Rosé, Crianza and Reserva) Agnvs-Signature Wine (Malvasia White, Oak or Media Crianza, Crianza and Reserva) Agnvs Oil Ladrón de Guevara (Young Red, White and Rosé, Crianza and Reserva) Centvm Vitis (Signature wine combining golden petals and native stocks of prefiloxera era, over 140 years). Tours by previous appointment: Saturday: 11am - 1pm and 4pm - 6pm. Sunday: 11am - 1pm. Guided tours and tasting session: 6 Euro per person. The winery has won the Best of 2012 award, in the "Art and Culture" category.
