La Arena Beach

Located between Muskiz and Zierbena, the beautiful beach of La Arena is 966 metres long and is one of the most popular corners for surfers on the Left Margin of the Great Bilbao. It is the last beach on the eastern limits of the Basque Country.

It has three main waves: the left in Pobeña, in the west part of the beach, the wave in the central area, and the right in El Vivero, in the east part of the beach. Surf lessons are given in the central area of the beach, as at the other two peaks special care needs to be taken due to the strong currents.

All the waves can be surfed at all tides, although the break at Pobeña is better at low tide, as it is a very long, good quality left that can provide epic sessions. The beach is surfable up to six feet and does not require a strong swell , as it is a very open beach.
