Laga Beach

Beautiful Laga Beach is located in the area around the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve and next to Cape Ogoño (279m), and belongs to the town of Ibarrangelu.

This is one of the most breath-taking sandy areas along the Biscay coast. With 574 metres of fine golden sand, the beach opens out to the sea.

The surfing nerve centre for surfers from Gernika and its surroundings. Laga's waves are short and intense, having both right and left-hand peaks. The eastern area of the beach is the most crowded. It needs a medium western swell to begin working. It is surfable up to 6 ft. It has a surf club and a surf school. Other water sports can also be practised, such as sailing or canoeing. The most intrepid ones dare practice paragliding from the Ogoño rock.
