Laidatxu Beach is located in Biscay's town of Mundaka, right in the town centre. The dimensions of the beach are small and the golden-colour sand is fine and recommended for families with children.
Considered one of the ten best waves in the world, Mundaka offers top-quality left-handers suitable only for highly skilled surfers. It needs very specific conditions. Its wave, especially tubular, is also characterised by its great length. It is surfable up to 12 ft. Its location in Gernika river mouth means its seafloor is variable, and it undergoes changes during the course of the year. Located in the Urdaibai Reserve, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, it is surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery on the Basque Coast. It holds important world-famous events. The small sandy area offers the possibility to practice other sports such as canoeing, windsurfing...
In summertime we can take a ferry to go to the nearby Laida Beach, so as to visit the beautiful Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve.
