Located in Alava's town of Ayala, the Maroño Reservoir is sheltered by the Sálvada Mountain Range, steep hillside which up in the north of Alava.

This beautiful scenery is home to large open spaces and green grasslands, including a reservoir that provides neighbouring towns with water.

It is yearly visited by numerous fishing lovers. There is plenty of pike, although it is also remarkable the trout fishing. Fishing is allowed from March to September. Besides, the area is home to migratory birds that due to the weather cannot avoid the Sálvada range.

Besides, the fabulous wooded surrounding composed of pines, oak trees and shrubs offers the opportunity to enjoy a pleasant day in one of Alava's most beautiful natural areas, which, at the same time, offers in its surroundings other beautiful places such as El Cañón de Delika, where the river nervión has its source overcoming 200 metres of slope.
