Museums
The Basque Pottery Museum is located in the Ollerías neighbourhood, in Elosu
The Museum is located in a beautiful natural setting, between the Urkiola Natural Park and the Gorbeia Natural Park, by the shores of Alava's reservoirs. The building is an old restored pottery that is open to the public since 1993. Pieces mainly made in the Basque Country, and others made in other potteries around the peninsula make up the exhibition.
Pieces are organised according to their use and function: cooking pots, table pottery, water transport and storage, slaughter of pigs and preservation of food, religious and decorative use, building and accessories, and so on. The permanent exhibition houses a total of 380 pieces. Tours of the production workshop are available, giving visitors the chance to observe the potters at work.
