The church of Andra Mari or Santa María is the oldest religious building in Galdakao. It was built in the 13th century in Elexalde neighbourhood, replacing the old church of Santa Marina de Ganguren. The medieval construction was extended later on and rebuilt in 1516. Its style is a mixture of Romanesque-Gothic with Renaissance reconstruction elements. Its main feature is the facade, of late Romanesque style. The belfry keeps traces of the original building, dating back to the 12th century. The interior displays both styles: Romanesque and Gothic. Plateresque style is worth mentioning, with a magnificent sculpture of Santa María (13th century).
