Consisting mainly of 17 municipalities, the Valley of Léniz had no building that worked as headquarters for the local authorities. The church and the portico were used for public meetings when the bell was rung.
In the 17th Century, as a consequence of the split between Eskoriatza and Aretxabaleta, the former Town Hall was built on Durana, a central street.
Built in ashlar stone, the façade features a coat of arms with a two-headed eagle and the arms of Aretxabaleta, Gipuzkoa and Castilla-León.
Currently the building is home to Loramendi Euskara Elkartea (Loramendi Basque Association).
