Idiakez Tower, also known as Etxe Beltza, impacts on the visitors, for its walls are blackened. Many stories revolve around the house. It is said that it was built in the Middle Ages as a residence for the Idiakez family, in Gothic style and its main façade still keeps the family's coat of arms: an ox going through a tree.
The marriage of the first Carlist King, Carlos V de Borbón, with the Beira Princess was ratified in this place. A few years later, in the II Carlist War, the house was besieged and burnt down. That is the reason why its walls are blackened -thereby the name of the house.
Outside we can find the Barricas fountain, dating back to 1831. Nowadays the palace belongs to the Dukes of Granada de Ega and it is not open to the public.
