The Virgen Blanca square lies under this gothic temple built between the 14th and the 16th centuries, over the remains of a former hermitage.
The architectural gothic and renaissance styles merge in this rectangular-shaped construction with three naves covered with special supports. Inside, there is a big altarpiece, of baroque style, created by the sculptor Gregorio Fernández.
This church is one of the most famous in the city, since Our Lady of la Virgen Blanca, patron saint of the city, is worshipped in it. At the same time, the image of this church is very well-known, given that from its bell tower comes down "Celedón" every 4th of August, which starts the Vitoria's major celebrations.
