Cultural Heritage

The church of San Severino dates back to the 15th century, and is located in Balmaseda's main square.

The building is of Gothic style, but due to some restorations made in the 18th century visitors will admire several Baroque elements. Its interior is Gothic. It is divided in three naves and the central one finishes in a polygonal apse with elegant stained glass windows. Besides, there is a Cavaillé - Coll organ dating back to the end of the 19th century. The chapel of the Santo Cristo is the most important one, with a Plateresque altarpiece.

The outer part and the tower were restored in 1730, which is why the building shows several Baroque elements.
