Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de Olatz

The hermitage of Nuestra Señora de Olatz is located halfway on the road between Azpeitia and the Sanctuary of Loiola.

This temple has been tightly linked to the Loiola family for years, for they were its patrons: Saint Ignatius, for instance, had a special devotion to this virgin, whom he used to pray. Moreover, this place was the meeting point for Gipuzkoa's General Assembly till the 18th century. The temple dates back to the 13th century.

The main door is semi-circular and in the interior, the vault and the wooden choir stand out. However, its main gem is the Virgin's Gothic carving, made in polychrome wood.
