In 1910, Mrs Flora L. De Heredia was awarded the concession contract to exploit the waters of the River Errotazar, and that is when the hydroelectric power station was built. To this purpose, the water conductions of a nearby former mill were used.
Years later, in 1937, the property was transferred to the company Hijos de Mendizabal, which used the power produced by the station in their Durango factory.
Nowadays the power station maintains its original facilities: water collector, water tank, pipes and turbines. The power station is normally closed, but it is possible to arrange guided tours in which visitors are given explanations of how this 20th century small station operated.
