Cultural Heritage

The church of Santa María de la Asunción de Xemein dates from the 16th century.

It consists of three naves and shows a combination of Gothic and Renaissance elements. This temple, with a rectangular plan and square apse, houses an outstanding Mannerist altarpiece, a magnificent work of art representing Christ's childhood and Passion.

The vestry, choir and belfry were added in the 17th century. The cementery, in Neo-classical style, is attached to the church and has a rectangular plan and a cloister.
