Church and cementery of Santa María de la Asunción de Xemein

The church of Santa María de la Asunción de Xemein dates from the 16th century. It consists of three naves and shows a combination of Gothic and Renaissance elements. This temple, with a rectangular plan and square apse, houses an outstanding Mannerist altarpiece, a magnificent work of art representing Christ's childhood and Passion. The vestry, choir and belfry were added in the 17th century. The cementery, in Neo-classical style, is attached to the church and has a rectangular plan and a cloister.
