Larrarte Dolmen

Larrarte dolmen is located in the homonym hill and the monument is accessible from Astigarreta neighbourhood (10km from Beasain). The small dolmen consists of no capstone but only four upright stones. Three of the stones are limestone but the fourth, curiously, is marlstone.

This megalithic monument was unveiled in 1980 but the archaeological excavation did not begin till six years later.

Experts from Aranzadi Society found several remains and objects (some of them flints) in the inner chamber and following an analysis they concluded the dolmen might date back to the Neolithic period and used again in the Eneolithic (4,000 years before Christ, approximately).
