Manuel Plácido Berriozabalbeitia, who wanted to give a present to his birthplace neighbourhood, ordered the construction of the Berriozabaleta fountain. The money for the mountain came from that earned by him in Peru. The monument is impressive if seen from the road leading to it: on each side of the road there are little pillars every five metres. The fountain and the washing place form the monument, located in the middle of a semi-circular terrace with awesome views towards the Urkiola mountains. The fountain's unique decoration, with categorical, simple and harmonious volumes, is limited to flat panels and a lion head-shaped pipe. On every side there are two small thermal fountains accessed through three stairs. The semi-circular washing place is behind. All that surrounded by a semi-circular wall hosting seven benches. The monument resembles a theatre used as the neighbourhood's meeting point.
