Painted figures at Arenaza cave

Art & Culture

Cultural Heritage

The Arenaza cave's entrance is a great arch divided in two by a two-metre high stalagmite. From there we get into a 20-metre long gallery, quite high in the middle. The next is the main gallery, where we will find the images of a bull head and back, drawn in red lines. The Arenaza cave's most valuable treasure is the space attached to the main gallery. After a narrow and difficult access, we will find 10 hind drawings. They belong to the Magdalenian period and many of them are covered with red ink. Type of monument: Cave. Period: Pre-history. Observations: The cave is closed to the public and researchers have restricted access.
