The Marueleza oppidum (fort), located in the Arrola mountain, was the main fortress of those times as well as the most relevant one in Bizkaia. Moreover, this spot in the river Oka is one of the richest with regards to the archaeological remains found there, and shows that the need for protection caused this kind of fortresses to be built. The fortress' two main structures are the inner building protected by the walls and the outer construction. Marueleza has a door excavated between 1983-86; it is a complex system formed by the superimposition of two walls.
