Otxandio Town Hall

La Casa Consistorial de Otxandio, or Otxandio Town Hall, is located in the town's urban nucleus, beside the pelota court and the church, and is one of the most interesting sites in this Bizkaia town. It is a two-storey building with a rectangular plan and a main façade in sandstone masonry.

In addition, it is a harmonious building, with perfectly measured dimensions. Similarly, the arched porch and the generously-sized balconies make this Ayuntamiento one of the most spectacular town halls in Bizkaia. In 1733, the Otxandio corporation decided to build a new town hall, after it became apparent that the previous building was no longer big enough for the town's needs. The new town hall was opened on 1st January, 1737.

Although most of the history of its construction is unknown, it is known that its coats of arms were the work of the highland sculptor Jerónimo de Liermo and that the carpentry was carried out by Antonio de Isasmendi, an Otxandio resident.
