Eibar was established around the Church of San Andrés. The original building was made of wood and the construction of the present church began in the 15th century and nowadays it is the most significant building in town. Its plan is cross-shaped, with one nave and two aisles of the same height and a star-shaped vault. The capitals of the columns supporting the vault are Corinthian, unique of its kind in Gipuzkoa. The belfry and the main façade door, in Baroque style, were the latest elements to be built. However, the northern façade is worth admiring too; it dates back to the 16th century and combines Renaissance and Plateresque styles.
