The parish church of Elgoibar, erected in the 17th century, was built by architects Longa, Larraza and Ibero, who were influenced by the Escorial's style, included within the Baroque architecture. However, other styles prevail in some of the church's elements: classicism in the high altarpiece, which hosts an image of the town's patron saint, San Bartolomé, and that of San Antón, Elgoibar's second patron saint. In view of its deterioration restoration works started back in 1994 following 4 years of repairs and cleaning. Works finished in 1997.
