Balmaseda History Museum

The Balmaseda History Museum is located inside the church of San Juan del Moral and consists of different sections that immerse visitors in the past and present of this town in the Las Encartaciones area.

The tour begins with a series of exhibits from the municipal archive (16th-19th century), including the first elections journal and the account book for the hospital that once stood on Calle Pío Bermejillo. There is also a section dedicated to the town's illustrious figures, such as indianos (people who made their fortunes in the Americas and returned with great wealth), politicians and artists.

Another section offers information about the most iconic buildings in Balmaseda. The Holy Week celebrations, local industries and traditions (such as the putxeras, or railway stews), and the town's beret factory, "La Encartada", also have their own special place in the museum itinerary.
