In Getxo there are a pleasant walk along the Muelle de Las Arenas and Muelle de Arriluze that allows to discover some of the buildings most representative of the palatial architecture of the locality. These buildings were constructed during the epoch of major splendor between the ends of the XIXth century and beginning of the XXth.
The mines, Blast Furnaces, the transport, Banks, electricity were the base of the business of the most powerful and millionaire families of the State in addition to influential inside the politics and the companies of the country that were living in them.
It is a self-guided tour involving 29 information panels that will help you to understand the architectural styles that prevailed at that time: eclecticism, traditional English architecture and regionalism, as well as its most renowned architects, the contemporary social context, etc.
Most of the outstanding architects in Bizkaia from around the end of the 19th century and the first third of the 20th designed buildings in Getxo.
