The Larreineta Funicular opened in 1926 to join the mining town of La Arboleda with San Salvador del Valle. The journey is now just a 10-minute trip, but before the funicular was built it took an hour and a half, making this essential for miners living in the town of La Arboleda.
It has outstanding historical value and a great social function, plus the design was adapted so it could be used to transport not only persons but also iron ore loads and vehicles.
