Miner's House, La Arboleda

Art & Culture

Cultural Heritage

In the mid-1870s the mining operation in the Triano hills led to great demand for workers, causing the settlement of La Arboleda to grow nearly tenfold in just forty years.

As a result, the lack of infrastructure meant that housing needs had to be met urgently.

One of the types of home that appeared was houses build from wooden boards so that the materials could easily be re-used if the company needed the site for mining activities. Each of them could take up to 3 families, who even shared the same kitchen.

Going into this restored Miner's House offers a glimpse of everyday life for these families.
