This is the highest distinction awarded in Spanish cooking

Basque cuisine has once again earned the highest accolades. On this occasion, Eneko Atxa, head of the Azurmendi restaurant in Larrabetzu, has been awarded the National Gastronomy Prize for Best Chef 2015. This prize is awarded by the Royal Academy of Gastronomy and the Cofradía de la Buena Mesa (Guild of the Fine Table). Azurmendi, which holds 3 Michelin stars, was recently chosen as the second best restaurant in the world by Elite Traveler magazine and stands 19th in the world ranking 50 Best Restaurants. The restaurant is a member of the Euskadi Gastronomika club, a network made up of restaurants, bars, shops and other gastronomic establishments that meet a series of criteria for rigour and commitment.
