They are carving out a niche as a tourist landmark, placing the Basque Country brand on the world map.

This year once again the Basque Country hosts some of the top festivals on the summer circuit. A time of year when the good weather encourages us to try different things to do. Every year these festivals attract many fans from all over the world, who come here to enjoy top-class jazz concerts. Moreover, a host of activities are organised around them, complementing the range of leisure options and inviting visitors to discover the Basque Country. The oldest festival in Spain, the Heineken Jazzaldia in San Sebastián, together with those in Getxo and Vitoria-Gasteiz, already in their 41st year, will fill the Basque Country with top artists in the musical genre to delight fans with some uniquely surprising concerts. The star-studded bill for the Getxo festival (28th June - 2nd July) features artists like Chucho Valdés, sax player Bill Evans and his quartet and the guitarist Dean Brown, joining the Polish sax player Andrzej Olejniczak and the artists John Abercrombie and Dianne Reeves. The next date, in Vitoria-Gasteiz (11th-15th July) offers the chance to see musicians like Stanley Clarke, Patti Austin, Rubén Blades and Monk by 4. And finally, San Sebastián with the Heineken Jazzaldia (20th - 25th July) will be hosting groups of the stature of Saxophone Summit and the Charles Lloyd New Quartet.
