The Open House festival opens its doors in Bilbao
On 23rd and 24th September the capital of Bizkaia province is for the first time to take part in the biggest architecture festival in the world

The Open House initiative is coming to Bilbao, and doing it on a grand scale, opening up as many as 40 buildings in the city - which are usually closed to the public - for a weekend. It joins 30 other cities around the world, such as New York, Helsinki, Barcelona or Melbourne, that currently take part in this festival every year, between them attracting up to 750,000 people. The Palacio Chávarri, the Bidebarrieta municipal library, the Palacio Ibaigane or the top floors of the Torre Iberdrola, among others, will be opening their doors free of charge to welcome anybody who wants to come along. The visits consist of guided tours lasting about 20-30 minutes per building in groups of about 25 people. In most cases no prior enrolment is necessary; it is simply a matter of going along and waiting one's turn.
