Four restaurants in the Basque Country among the “50Best Restaurants”

Basque cuisine is once again among the best restaurants in the world with four selected restaurants, two of them in the TOP 10.

On Tuesday 19 June, the Oscars of gastronomy gala was held at the Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao, where the list “The World´s 50 Best Restaurants” published by the magazine “Restaurant” was announced.  

After its publication, it can be seen once again that Basque gastronomy continues to make a strong impression, as 4 Basque restaurants still occupy a privileged place in the list of 23 countries on the six continents. 

Andoni Luis Aduriz´s restaurant Mugaritz from San Sebastian and Victor Arginzoniz´s Roaster Etxebarri are the two restaurants that have slipped into the Top 10 in the ninth and tenth places respectively. In 31st place are Azak (Donostia – San Sebastián) and in 43rd place are Azurmendi (Bizkaia).

This is a recognition for a sector in which things are being done brilliantly and with great professionalism. 

The ranking of the top 10 restaurants on the list “The World´s 50 Best Restaurants” is:

2.    El Celler de Can Roca (Girona, Spain)

3.    Mirazur (Menton, France)

4.    Eleven Madison Park (New York, USA)

5.    Gaggan (Bangkok, Thailand)

6.    Central (Lima, Peru)

7.    Maido (Lima, Peru)

8.    Arpege (París, France)

9.    Mugaritz (Rentería, Basque Country)

10.    Asador Etxebarri (Vizcaya, Basque Country)
