Euskadi, the Basque Country, shines even more brightly with new Michelin stars.

The restaurant Garena Jatetxea earns its first star, while Amelia in San Sebastián/Donostia adds a second star.

The Basque Country has two new Michelin stars in the 2022 Red Guide - these accolades were announced at the last gala dinner. Garena Jatetxea, the restaurant run by chef Julen Baz Múgica, located in Dima, has earned its first Michelin star for its traditional cuisine.

Meanwhile, Paulo Airaudo's Amelia, in San Sebastián/Donostia has added another star to make it a two-star restaurant. Plus, Martín Berasategui has won the Chef Mentor awarded by Blancpain for his passion for the profession.

Basque gastronomy now boasts a total of 34 stars divided between 24 restaurants in Euskadi, making the Basque Country the territory with the world's highest concentration per head of Michelin stars.
