Santa María, 24, Ordizia
The traditional fair in Ordizia every Wednesday is a meeting place for buyers and sellers of agricultural produce from the area.
It is sheltered by a structure with thick columns, and has numerous stalls of all kinds: Idiazabal cheese, fruit, vegetables and endless top-quality fresh produce.
As well as the weekly market, Ordizia hosts a range of important fairs throughout the year. On Wednesday in Easter week, for example, Artzain Eguna is celebrated, an occasion to present Idiazabal cheese. The special Basque Festivities market is held in September, and December sees the special Christmas market.
The fair in Ordizia has always stood out as a firm defender of seasonal local produce. In line with this, the idea is to showcase one seasonal product every month, for which purpose a space is provided in the square, to be occupied every Wednesday by the different stallholders selling this product at the fair.
As well as this, on the last Wednesday of every month there is a gastronomic demonstration involving the guest product.
