San Antonio procession in Urkiola

Location Santuario de Urkiola , Abadiño

13 June

Every year, thousands of people participate in the procession of the Sanctuary of Urkiola (Abadiño) on June 13th.

The tradition goes that on San Antonio de Padua Day, those who attend the festivity must complete seven laps around a rock known as "tximistarri", which is located before the sanctuary dedicated to San Antonio de Padua. In return, the rock, which is the defender of issues and lost causes, will help find or keep the couple relationship or whatever the pilgrim asks.

Festive atmosphere spreads out over the day. Trikitilaris -players of trikitixa, a two-row Basque diatonic button accordion- and bertsolaris -singers of bertsos, extemporary composed songs in Basque- will make the day more enjoyable.

Moreover, as usual in these sorts of events, the streets will have numerous stalls with farming and stockbreeding products, as well as handicrafts and a wide selection of our lands' best products at the clients' disposal.

Several masses will be held too.
