Bilbao Airport (BIO)

The new Bilbao Airport, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, was inaugurated in 1999 in Loiu, 12 km far from Bizkaia's capital. It has three floors built on iron and glass and resembles a dove beginning its flight. Passengers enter a bright 7,000 square metre-hall hosting the 36 check-in desks. The mezzanine floor holds departing and arriving travellers and the ground floor holds the arrival hall with seven baggage belts.

• Airport - Bilbao Buses: A3247 Airport - Bilbao. Direction to Bilbao: Alameda Recalde 14, Gran Vía 46 (Soto), Gran Vía 79 and Termibus bus station.
• Buses Airport - Zarautz - San Sebastián: D050B Bilbao - San Sebastián Airport. Stops: Bus stop at the arrivals gate of the Airport (Floor 0) - Rotonda de Los Bomberos (Zarautz) - Paseo de Bizkaia 12 (San Sebastián) and Bus Station (San Sebastián).
• Airport - Arrasate Buses: DG56B Airport - Arrasate. Stops: Bus stop at the arrivals gate of the Airport (Floor 0) - Station (Eibar) – Ibargarai (Bergara) – San Prudentzio – Garibai (Arrasate).
• Buses to Vitoria-Gasteiz: There are special direct services in the summer months. The recommended itinerary is the regular line (A3247) Airport -Termibus (Bilbao bus station) and connecting with the Bilbao -Vitoria- Gasteiz buses.

The airport owns a car park for 3,000 vehicles disguised under a hill. The passenger terminal is 32,000 square kilometres wide and its capacity is four million passengers a year and 3,000 passengers at rush hour. Moreover, the airport has two runways, two parking platforms for 24 planes, maintenance and repairing works hangar for small planes and helicopters, general aviation area, one aeroclub and private hangars.

• The general P1 parking is located 100 meters away from the north facade of the passengers terminal. The building has five floors with capacity for 2.924 places. This is the ideal option for stays of less than 4 days, as well as to carry or pick up passengers. 

• The P2 parking long stay is located in the exit level, connecting with the terminal through a covered pedestrian walkway. The distance is of 5 minutes by foot. 

• Parking premium with 60 places and Parking Express. It also offers daily 57 taxis in the arrival zone.
