Beaches

Meñakoz Beach is the ideal place for those who seek lonely and quiet places.

The wild beach belongs to Barrika and Sopela. Despite being a little remote of the urban centre, it is close to the road to Sopelana. Meñakoz, a 400 metre-long nudist beach, is mostly pebbles with some sandy areas.

It is open to the sea, that is why it is mostly frequented by surfers. Meñakoz is an important Basque big-wave spot, famous the world over. Only for high-level surfers. It is a right-hander that is surfable up to 15 or 18 ft., extremely powerful and with tube sections.

It breaks in front of a cliff and the rocks make it all the more dangerous. Besides, the cosy beach offers the opportunity to go for walks along the spectacular cliffs, which are enveloped in a green cloak and attract due to their beauty.
