Ondarreta Beach, located in the west of Donostia / San Sebastián, is by Igeldo Mountain and in front of Santa Clara Island.
The golden-sand beach is one of the most elegant in Gipuzkoa. With its 600 metres, Ondarreta offers a varied sports offer. Swimming and volleyball lessons are organised in summertime. Besides, those who come around can practice numerous water activities. It is equipped with large and modern facilities.
Ondarreta has a couple of fast, intense left-handers which break next to the beach's western promenade. It is an alternative spot for days when there are rough seas and unfavourable conditions, and it is sheltered from west winds. It is always interesting to watch, as passers-by are literally strolling above the surfers.
The beach is connected with La Concha and Zurriola beaches through a 7-km maritime promenade which almost reaches Ondarreta and the sculpture Peine del Viento, a magical spot where we will admire the steel sculptures holding the rocks and defying the sea, by Eduardo Chillida.
Windsurfing, surfing, canoeing, bodyboarding, jet skiing, beach volleyball, recreational angling, recreational underground fishing, scuba diving.
