The Urrúnaga Reservoir is located between Alava and Bizkaia, surrounded by a spectacular landscape with Mount Gorbeia (1481 m) on the background.
It mainly belongs to Legutiano, although part of it is located in Otxandio. This marvellous place is one of Legutiano's main tourist attractions, which has favoured the development of numerous leisure and sports activities. On the one hand, on the shore of the reservoir, two parks (Sorgimendi and Zabalain) have been fitted out with tables, grills, fountains, playgrounds...
On the other hand, there is an international regatta course to the north, where rowing courses are also held. Thanks to the reservoir, the hotel and catering business has undergone a rapid development in the area. Legutiano has numerous bars and restaurants, whereas other neighbouring villages offer rural tourist facilities (Elosu), seafood restaurants (Urrúnaga), and so on. In the part of Bizkaia, an itinerary borders a part of the reservoir. Just before the bridge of Gomilaz begins a path that leads us to Mekoleta by crossing the San Bernabé, where we can find an old freezer restored in 1999.
Besides, the Urrúnaga Reservoir attracts a lot of attention due to the large number of water birds and aquatic communities to be found in this habitat. It is worth mentioning the numerous fishermen that drop by to capture the best piece.
