Christmas illuminations are back in the towns and cities of the Basque Country, and will be there in our town centres - trees and parks, buildings, squares and streets - creating a magical atmosphere and highlighting the festive spirit of this time of year.
The provincial capitals will hold the traditional switching on of the Christmas illuminations in early December, when some of the surprises their designs always include will be unveiled: illuminated Christmas trees, baubles, cascades of light, whales, giant candles you can walk on and more. In some places the event is accompanied by live music and fireworks.
In Bilbao, the lighting ceremony will be held on 26 November. In San Sebastián, it will take place on 28 November at 7:30 p.m., with a spectacular artistic and audiovisual show combining technology, music and pyrotechnics.
In Vitoria-Gasteiz, the lighting ceremony will be held on 28 November. New this year will be the illumination of Los Arquillos and the arches in Plaza Nueva.
