The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum celebrates its 110 birthdays with the alphabetical exhibition “ABC. The alphabet of the Bilbao Museum” as a finishing touch.
In this exhibition the habitual explanatory criterio of arrangement of the Works (chronological, authors…) are replaced with an alphabet of 31 letters, which include Basque double letters like ts, tx and tz, in addition to the ll of the Spanish alphabet.
The basque writer and poet Kirmen Uribe, has been who has designed an itinerary composed by letters and words in four languages Basque, Spanish, English and French; that covers the art history and the collection across diverse periods and styles.
The exhibition The alphabet of the Bilbao Museum that occupies 31 rooms of the renewed ancient building emphasizes the wealth and variety of the collection of the museum that it includes principally from the XIIIth century until our days.
