Church of San Nicolás

  • Church of San Nicolás

Church of San Nicolás

This temple was opened in 1756, thirteen years after its building began directed by Loyola Ignacio Ibero master builder. His proposal was original for the period: a Greek cross-shaped church within a square and covered by a dome.

Dead angles in the corners are devoted to chapels and vestry. From outside the magnificent dome covering the temple has chamfered prism shape, even if the belfry placed in the middle of the main façade disguises its presence. The façade includes the main entrance and both towers on its side.

The main entrance's tympanum stands out because of its bronze relief. Inside, we find five awesome Rococo altarpieces by Juan Pascual de Mena.
