Gipuzkoa square, located in the city centre of San Sebastián, is one of the most emblematic places in the city. It is noteworthy the presence of the sculpture of pianist and composer José María Usandizaga, as well as a small meteorologycal pergola, a large clock-table made of white marmol and a large clock made of flowers of different colours.
Its gardens and paths, which are located in the middle of the square are meeting and resting spots for many citizens of which many grew up feeding the pond's ducks. In front of the square we will find the headquarters of the regional council of Gipuzkoa, which was built back in 1885 by architect José de Goicoa.
The impressive Neoclassic building's entablatures bear the busts of popular sailors from Gipuzkoa.
What is more, throughout the year the square plays host to several activities, such as the book fair and the children's funfairs in the summertime. It is also worth visiting the Crib installed there at Christmas times.
