Spectacular natural settings and majestic buildings hold hands in the Urola Erdia region, a beautiful spot located in the heart of Gipuzkoa. The most widely-known Basque of all, Saint Ignatius of Loyola, was born there and next to the house where he was born, a majestic Sanctuary was built in the 17th century. It is one the main attractions of the region. This Sanctuary constitutes one of the most unique baroque-style constructions in the world. The Basque Railway Museum in Azpeitia, the best museum of its kind in the North of Spain, the Jorge Oteiza fronton courts in Azkoitia and Ekainberri, the replica of the cave in Ekain declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site, are the main tourist attractions which this region offers.
