Antzasti

Antzasti Euskaldunon Etxea is in the locality of Dima, in a unique setting surrounded by one of the most distinctive mountain ranges in the Basque Country, at the gateway to the Urkiola nature park and facing the Gorbeia nature park.

There the sisters Cristina and Elena Amezaga have created a museum of enormous anthropological value to explain everyday life and the role of women in town and country environments in the course of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Antzasti uses a 360º tour to present the contrasting settings of a farmstead in Arratia (the building in which the museum is housed) and a middle-class home in nineteenth-century Bilbao, in perfect harmony, using a vast collection of materials. Through the point of view of a woman, the centre of domestic life, a tour reveals the contrasts between the rooms in the two homes.

Antzasti is a time capsule that, through carefully decorated and contextualised settings, shows what life, leisure and work were like in this period of our history.
