Arditurri, the Aiako Harria nature park centre, is located at one of the ways into this area, in the heart of its rocky massif.
The centre is in fact in the building that formerly housed the laboratories of the Arditurri mines, next to the mine entrance.
Arditurri is one of the few mine galleries to have been worked almost continuously for 2,000 years. Today, after over 20 years in disuse, the mine site has been restored so that you can visit a landscape whose surface is marked by towering slag heaps, open-cast quarries, inclines and cuttings, mine entrances, old mine buildings and even the route of the railway on which the mineral was shipped to the port of Pasaia, today converted into a walking and cycling path.
Through information panels and touch screens as well as other technological devices, the park centre enables visitors to discover the history of the Aiako Harria nature park and the Arditurri mines before plunging inside them in the old gallery.
