Visitors to the Artium Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country of Vitoria-Gasteiz can see works from its collection on show.
Its breadth and the artists represented in it make this collection a landmark to discover Basque and Spanish contemporary art from the 1950s to the present. It also hosts temporary exhibitions devoted to different generations of Spanish and international artists.
Artium Museoa features distinctive architecture: most of its exhibition space is below ground level. Outside it, on the other hand, works by Richard Serra, Jorge Oteiza and Eduardo Chillida can be seen. Artium Museoa is a kind of museum in a cellar where the most valuable contents are not evident at first glance.
Artium Museoa is also a museum suitable for all ages, in which families are especially welcome, with the possibility of joining in activities and using spaces provided specifically for them.
