AZKUNA Zentroa

AZKUNA Zentroa is located right in the heart of the Biscayan capital and is one of the most representative buildings in the town. The old wine warehouse, designed in 1909 by Ricardo Bastida, is now a spectacular multi-purpose civic centre dedicated to leisure and culture, the transformation of which has been carried out by the renowned Philippe Starck.

Azkuna Zentroa is an innovative, multidisciplinary, dynamic venue, a place which opens the way for knowledge, cultural representations of various kinds, physical fitness and fun. Amongst the features that attract most attention on the inside of the building are the forty-three columns designed by Starck and made under the supervision of the Italian stage designer Lorenzo Baraldi.

Azkuna Zentroa has a media library, a fitness centre, a swimming pool, an exhibition hall, an auditorium, movie theatres, a multi-purpose hall, restaurants, cafeterias and a shop. A range of events are held at the centre, such as the Gutun Zuria literary festival.
