Ekoetxea Azpeitia

Ekoetxea Azpeitia is a museum based on different aspects of the environment.

Visitors to its four exhibition rooms can learn about and appreciate natural resources through themed blocks dealing with issues such as climate change, atmosphere, water, biodiversity, population, cities, bioclimatic architecture, sustainable town planning, mobility, energy and transport, noise, waste and consumption and sustainable development.

This museum in Azpeitia can be visited independently or by arrangement with its mediation department. In fact the museum runs a full range of activities related to the environment, for the public and for schools.

For families, Ekoetxea Azpeitia has a wide range of free activities at the weekend. Another of its attractions is Xaguxatar, the first urban nature park devoted to the Basque Country's natural heritage. The park covers 1,800 square metres and is divided into five areas:

  • Garden of Vertical Trunks
  • Maze
  • Xaguxatar Wall
  • Insect Hotel
  • Alternative space.
