Ekoetxea Azpeitia

Ekoetxea Azpeitia is a pioneering centre in environmental education, as it was the first facility in the Basque Country dedicated to this purpose.

It is located near the gardens of the Basilica of Loiola, and its aim is to raise awareness and value natural resources, as well as to educate, educate and encourage citizens to take action on environmental issues.

This facility also houses the Xaguxatar urban nature park, located in an area of 1,800 m² and 6 sections that inform, from a playful and interactive point of view, about the habits, characteristics and habitats of bats.

Ekoetxea Azpeitia is part of the network of environmental centres of the Department of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability of the Basque Government and is managed by the Public Society for Environmental Management, Ihobe, in collaboration with the Azpeitia Town Council.  It has a Didactic School Programme and offers experiences and routes that help to enhance the value of the natural environment closest to us and, in addition, seek the involvement of citizens in order to create a more sustainable future through improvements in their behaviour and habits.
