Birdwatching areas
Valderejo is set in an extensive depression surrounded by rocky escarpments. This rural setting stands out for its exceptional scenery and for the rich and unique variety of flora and fauna found here. The Purón River runs through this Natural Park, carving through a stunning deep gorge. This area is home to one of the most complete lists of rock-breeding birds in the Basque Country. Here will have the chance to see the griffon vulture, Egyptian vulture, golden eagle, peregrine falcon, alpine swift and both the yellow-billed and red-billed chough. A well-blazed network of trails allows birders to explore a good part of the Natural Park, while keeping a keen eye out for birds living in the wooded areas, along the riverbanks, and in the pastures and mountains.
