Txingudi bay and Hondarribia

Hondarribia, Irun and Hendaye, overlook the bay of Txingudi, at the mouth of the river Bidasoa. An area with a personality of its own which can be reached over the Jaizkibel massif, which dominates the north-eastern corner of Gipuzkoa. This coastal massif is a great viewpoint from which to gaze at leisure over both the Bay of Biscay and the towns around Jaizkibel.

Txingudi bay is a unique place where ocean, mountains and rivers come together with all their outstanding natural and historic heritage. A place with a personality of its own. Situated between the sea and the mountains, it is an ideal base for walking in the nearby hills, following the waymarked Camino de la Bahía around the bay, trying water sports and more. One of the finest views of the bay is to be had from Hondarribia. This seaside town has a wide and varied range of places to stay and eat, making it attractive at any time of year.

It still has a beautiful walled old town, surrounded by cobbled streets, houses bearing carved crests and distinctive buildings. Another highlight is the neighbourhood of La Marina with its colourful fishermen's houses, restaurants and typical pintxo bars with their outdoor terraces.
