On 31 December 1967, the “trenico” (little train), as this railway was known, made its last journey. Today we can travel along the old route, made into a Green Way, either on foot or by bicycle, thanks to the recovery efforts of the different administrations who have participated in the project.
A total of 125.5 km, making it one of the longest and most appealing Green Ways. The visitor can enjoy varied landscapes, including urban and industrialised areas and more rural and natural areas of great beauty, with the unique opportunity to dive into the internal background of this train, visiting and admiring the traces of the old railway still in existence. Don’t miss the interesting Green Way Visitors’ Centre in the town of Antoñana. It includes a look at the history of this old railway. Don’t miss out on this unique experience.
You choose your starting point. Estella-Lizarra, Bergara, Oñati, or even Vitoria-Gasteiz are starting points to discover this green way.
